As a part of manhood, our young men need to be prepared to be heads of households. And as heads of households, they need to know that they're going to be a spiritual leader of that home and be prepared to do so. And they also are going to be provider for the home and they need to be prepared to do that. They have to have a way to make a living and to bring an income to the family and not sit back and let someone else take up that duty, i.e. The wife.

Also, there are going to be protectors of their family. And I think sometimes when we think about protection, you think protect them from somebody doing bodily and physical harm, but no, not at all. The greatest harm is someone stealing away their hearts, stealing away their minds, speaking into them, teaching them to disobey God and to rebel against God and lead them in that rebellion. And as a father, we can't sit by idol and let our children's hearts be stolen away. We have to understand the spiritual battle in the home is for the salvation of the souls that God has given us.

What responsibilities does a father have?

Tom Ford explains in this video that our young men need to be prepared to be heads of households. They will one day be providers of the home as well. They shouldn't be lazy and let their wife to take over that duty. Finally, they also need to be protectors of the family in not only a physical but also a spiritual sense.
