We notice that the Bible addresses the family quite a lot. One of the things God has done is to instruct fathers to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. But that cannot happen if fathers are not using the Bible, are not reading the Bible, interpreting the Bible, teaching the Bible to their children. Raising children in the feared admonition of the Lord only means that we are telling them what God's will is for them, what God requires of them, who God is and how they should worship him. So the Bible is central to family discipleship.

The Bible is central to raising children. The Bible is central to preparing children, even just for life. Before we can begin to talk about eternal life, even just for life in general, the Bible is critical. We have everything we need in the Bible, and so parents should always be pointing their children to the Scriptures. Always be pointing the edge of the scriptures.

Malamulo Chindongo explains in this video that fathers are to raise their children in the admonition of the Lord. They should always be pointing their children and their family to Christ. A big part of that involves faithfully reading and studying Scripture together to examine what God has commanded.

Ephesians 6:4 (NKJV) - "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."
