Although the Bible has many passages that speak specifically to family, marriage and children etc. When you compare that number of passages to the whole of scripture, it's a comparatively small part of the Bible and that doesn't mean it's not important but I think that that is it's a hint for us and that is if we want to have good marriages if we want to raise our children in the right way if we want to have the right kind of model if we want to love each other in the way that honors God and portrays him to the world, then we can't only be concerned about the passages that speak directly to husband, wife, dad, and mom, and kids, etc. I think we have to back up and look at the bigger picture. What is the Bible as a whole say? The purpose is for everything Well, we see that everything has been done for God's glory and he really is the only person that we can say that about and It's in its right.

It's not selfish So that helps me set my the whole issue of family in its context. When I think of how I should treat my wife, I don't necessarily immediately go to Ephesians or to Peter and say, okay this is how I'm supposed to treat my wife. Generally I try to back up and think, John, why do you even have a wife? I mean, it's not all about you. So I think about God.

God in His infinite kindness has designed this in a way that not only is for my good, but is ultimately for his honor. It will reflect him in a way that he couldn't be reflected without it.

John Snyder explains in this video that if we want to have good marriages and raise our children in the right way, we can't only be concerned about the passages that speak about marriage or about children raising. Rather, we must back up and see what the purpose is for everything according to Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
