Well, God's omniscient means that he knows everything, that there's nothing that is hidden from God, nothing that is unknown to God. And I have tried to reflect upon this at times in grappling with theological issues or concepts the Bible sets forth and I can't get my little mind around it. I think, you know, maybe if I study harder, if I read these people who've understood it better, and the thought often comes to me, you know what, God knows this and understands this perfectly. And the fact that God is omniscient gives me great confidence, great comfort whenever I'm confounded. Because there are things in this world that are so far beyond me and things that I come up against where I must make decisions or I must take actions and I simply do not know with a kind of final confidence what the right step is.
I know that my God knows. And I know that whenever I can't articulate the things that I want to say, the things inside of me, the things that need to be expressed, I know that God knows. And there are times when all of us, I think, feel like we just wish somebody understood us. We wish we understood ourselves because we're so complicated. And there's so many avenues in our moral lives and in our intellectual lives, our personal lives, that seem to become easily convoluted and we can't sort ourselves out.
Well, God can. God knows. And so I can always resign myself to that wonderful thought that when I'm confounded, God is not. When things occur to me, I can remind myself that it has never occurred to God because He's always known. He's infinitely wise and infinite in His knowledge.
