So I guess in the times that we live in, it could be easy to think at times, you know, how long is there left? Is Christ going to come? Things look so bad. Is it worth investing ourselves in long-term projects? Yet Christ says, occupy till I come.
And as I think of these words in Ephesians chapter five, they encourage me where Paul writes, look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is. We have been called here for such a time as this and there's work to be done. We need to be about our Father's business. When Jesus says, occupy till I come, he wants to find us busy.
When he called the disciples they were all busy and a parked car doesn't go in any direction. We need to be moving forward in the Lord seeking to serve him, seeking to fulfill the Great Commission, seeking to proclaim the gospel and make disciples and do that without flinching. I love the fact that the Great Commission gives us the answer to so many different situations when people say, well look at what's happening in the world or what about this situation? The answer, the response is always the same. No matter what's happening, your role is to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, raise your family, and continue to engage in the local church and worship God.
That continues no matter what until he returns. You
