One man fell in Genesis 3. That put a great divide, a great separation between God and man. Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves with fig leaves that God was basically representing that man was trying to come to God on his own. God completely rebuffed that and In Genesis 3 15 which is known as the proto-evangelium God promised that a mediator would come he promised that a Savior would come That was the very first glimpse of the gospel then the whole Testament really points toward the coming Messiah. We needed a Messiah.

We could not fix the sin problem ourselves. And so God in His love and His kindness and His grace and His mercy sent Jesus Christ just at the appropriate time so that we could once again have fellowship with God the way that God intended fellowship to be had with Him ever since the very beginning. So Jesus Christ had to be our mediator. We couldn't do it by ourselves, which basically every other religion in the world says that we can earn our way to God. But God says, no, it won't be by man's own effort, it will be by my divine grace and mercy." And so God sent his son at the appropriate time.

Is there anything we can do to justify ourselves by our own efforts?

Cary Green explains in this video that when Adam and Eve sinned, there was a great divide between God and man. God did promise a coming Messiah who would fix the sin problem. There was nothing that Adam and Eve could do.

Christ had to be our mediator -- we couldn't do it ourselves. Adam and Eve could not do it and we cannot either. God sent His Son at the appropriate time.

John 3:16 (NKJV) - "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Speaker

Cary Green grew up in a loose Catholic home near Lake Tapps, Washington. While attending Western Washington University, he got saved, by the grace of God! Even as a new believer he knew God was calling him to the ministry, so after college he attended The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, California. While there, he met his wife, Lois, and a year after graduating, he and his family left for nearly ten years of ministry in East Berlin. During those years they helped to plant a church (Bible Church of Berlin) and establish a Bible school (European Bible Training Center), both of which are still going strong today. The LORD moved the Green family back to the USA in 2009, where Cary again became involved in planting a church–originally called Everett Bible Church, now Cornerstone Bible Church. It is his joy and privilege to pastor this congregation. Cary and Lois have fourteen children.
