First of all, I think fathers and mothers must make their children aware of where they are today and where our Christian community fits in our modern, what I would call humanistic, secular society. So fathers particularly, go to Deuteronomy 6, they must be teaching fathers. That's so important. I can't say anything more than you need to be teaching fathers. And like in Deuteronomy 6, grab all the normal contacts you have in life.
You're driving in a car, you're going to bed at night, you're having supper, you engage the children in conversation. For example, if I can give an example, our own four children growing up, one rule we had is every night we would make sure in our busy lives, we always ate supper together. And at the supper table, I engendered conversation about the news, about things they're hearing in school, and we would talk about them. I wanted them to see their father leading in conversation. And every night, I would go around the table and get their prayer requests and pray.
I wanted them to see their Father praying, taking leadership. And so the negative part would be you cannot be passive. You must be active and teach, I love the term teaching father. Yeah.
