Let us turn to the Word of God to Hebrews chapter 7 Hebrews chapter 7 And we shall read together from verse 11 Hebrews 7 and verse 11 Let us read the Word of God. If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, for under it the people received the law. What further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah, of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident for that after the similitude of Melchizedek, there arises another priest who is made not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. For He testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. For there is verily a disannowing of the commandment, going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did, by the which we draw nigh unto God.

And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest, for those priests were made without an oath, but this with an oath, by him that said unto him, the Lord swear and will not repent thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek for so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death, but this man, because he continueth ever hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens, who needeth not daily as those high priests to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins and then for the peoples. For this He did once when he offered up himself.

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity, but the word of the oath which was since the law maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. Amen. Let us pray. Lord, thou art thrice holy, and we are thousands and thousands of times unholy. We pray that by Thy Spirit, Thou wouldst work in our hearts to know Him who is altogether holy and altogether lovely, greater than Solomon.

It is him who we love. It is him who we want to see. So may all things fade away, but Jesus only remain. For we ask this in his name. Amen.

Our text is from the 26th verse of Hebrews 7. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens When we think friends of the person of Jesus Christ We are viewing deity God Manifest in the flesh The very God of very God is seen in Jesus Christ. He is one man, united to the Godhead, distinct, yet to view Jesus Christ and really experience His presence and experience His glory. It must produce in us something. It must produce in us godly fear.

It must produce in us reverence. It must produce in us worship. It must produce in us joy and praise, repentance. It must also produce in us a great and holy sense of our own unholiness. There was a day on the Sea of Galilee that Peter saw that Holy One.

Peter saw the holy glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is recorded in Luke chapter 5. Peter saw a glimpse of Christ's glory when he was present with him on that boat filled with all those fishes, and Peter felt it. Peter with deep sense of his sinfulness what did he do he fell he fell at Jesus feet he could not he would not look up he could only cry out, Depart from me, depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Peter had met many people. He himself was an interesting character.

He met many people in his life, and as we do, he made judgments of them. This man is a good man. This woman is a nice woman. This person is safe. This person is trustworthy.

This person is dangerous. But here is one that cannot be categorized into any kind of normal groups. He is in a class by himself. Peter could not fathom it. He had never experienced this before.

He could not comprehend this Jesus of Nazareth who could with a word of his. He could calm the storm, the winds and the waves, obey his voice. That voice that no man spoke like him. That man who is greater than Solomon. And Peter could not fathom it.

Peter could not fathom of the one who would walk on water when he would cry out Lord save me he stretched out his hand and brought him out and saved him. He could not fathom that. He saw that day something of glory. He saw that day something of the majesty and the holiness of Christ. And he felt himself so unholy.

And so he says, depart from me. You see, this is the picture when unholy men are in the presence of the holy God they cannot bear it praise God he bears with us he could only fall in worship, and He would cry out, depart. Depart from me, for I am sinful. That is my nature. It is not what I do, but what I am.

That is the issue. And friends, it's not what you do, it's what you are by nature, a sinner. It's what I am, a sinner by nature. And yet God is here. God has promised to be here.

It is in the presence of God the son that we are. Can we bear that glory? Peter could not. May the Lord give us eyes to see and ears to hear to know that we are in the presence of the most holy Christ who has said he would be amongst his people. He would be walking amongst the candlesticks.

And this is the response that we need friends. Has that been your response throughout the conference? A sense of Christ's presence, an experience of his blessing, but also a sense of our own wretchedness and of our own sin we are in the presence of the thrice holy God holy holy holy the heavenly beings they cover their faces with their six wings, as described in Isaiah 6. They cover their face. They cannot view that Holy One.

They cover their feet, which is a picture of the dust and the earth and the touching of earthly things. And yet they cry out in the presence of the heavenly host, holy, Holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. This is the perfection of God that is described above all other in the heavenly realm. And the Lord Jesus Christ, the beloved Son of God, is most holy.

And that praise of heaven is recorded in Revelation chapter 15 and verse 4 we read that affirmation of praise in heaven and one day we shall praise with holy lips one day we shall say these things never blushing because of our sinfulness. Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou only art holy. No one else is holy. Thou only art holy.

For all nations shall come and worship before thee for thy judgments are made manifest the Apostle John tells us in his first letter in 1st John chapter 1 and verse 5 God is light and in him is no darkness at all and yet we are darkness and yet we are in the presence of light pure light does that humble you it humbles me I tremble in my heart to be in the presence of the Holy One. This Light is expressing of his purity, perfect purity of the nature of God. He is glorious, we read in Exodus, he is glorious in holiness. Stephen Charnick in his book, the attributes of God, he describes the Lord in this way. Power, he says, is God's hand or arm.

Omniscience, his eye. Mercy, his bowels. Eternity, his duration. But eternity his duration but holiness listen to this but holiness is his beauty holiness is God's beauty holiness is Christ's beauty. He's fairer than tens and thousands.

And our soul loves him. Why? He's beautiful. He's altogether lovely because of His holiness. Because He is so different from us.

We feel our wretchedness and sinfulness. We are so ugly. Sin has caused such ugliness in man's nature. But He is altogether lovely. Do you see him?

Jesus Christ is that mediator. He is that high priest who gave himself for us, who in the words of our text, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners. There are two things I want to say in the time that we have, and then apply these truths. First of all, and this would be shorter, I trust, it is Christ's holiness in his word and works. And then secondly, more lengthy, it is Christ's holiness and the temptation of the Lord Jesus Christ that he could not be tempted he could not sin So first of all Christ's holiness in his word and works Our Lord Jesus Christ demonstrates himself to be holy, harmless and undefiled, separate from sinners.

And His holiness is found in His word. Have you found any untruth? Have you found him telling any lies? No, he is the way, the truth. His word is truth.

He is truth. Whatever goes out of his mouth and what is recorded in the pages of holy scripture. It is holy, perfect, pure, pure as gold. It is positive holiness as well as negative holiness. It is positive and negative.

Negative in rebuking sin. He called out sin. He called out the things and he saw the things that others could not see. And he spoke in his holiness against sin. He uncovered sin.

He spoke also positively in righteous things. He spoke of the way of the Father, of the will of the Father. No man spoke like him in the glory of his holiness. We could think about all the words that he spoke, and Every one of them is true, is perfect, is holy. And so the testimony is true.

No man spake like this man, and no man speaks like this man. He continues to speak If Jesus Christ is speaking to you by his Spirit in his word, listen to him. He's telling you the truth. He's telling you pure things, holy things. This is wisdom, the wisdom of God.

But then his works. His works was dropping with holy acts. His life was oozing out with holiness. He did and does all things perfectly well. He doeth all things well, the scripture says.

At creation, the Lord Jesus Christ created all things John chapter 1 tells us the word that is God was With God and without him was not anything made that was made Jesus is the creator and How does he create things? It is announced all things were very good. Not just good, but very good. It could not be better. Here is his holy work.

His perfect work. His father affirmed his work. All the time he is that beloved son. Everything Jesus Christ did was well-pleasing in God's sight. His father's smile was always upon him.

What a thing it is for children here who sense the smile of their parents. What a joy it brings. And Jesus Christ had that until the hour came and the sky went black and the Father turned his face from him. But all along, the Father smiled and said, This, look at him, look at what he does, look at what he says, look at his works look at all that he is this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased hear ye him the ungodly world also hurt him The ungodly world also saw what he did. They did not always understand.

They did not always appreciate what was said or what was done but they could not find any sin in it they could find no sin in him and they testified of it they only accused him of it That's all they could do but without evidence. The witnesses that testified against him could not match their words. There was that mug trial that is recorded in the Gospels. Especially John spends much time on giving the details of how the beloved Son of God suffered for us. And Pilate, when they brought him out, after all that he suffered physically, Pilate brought him before all.

And he said to the Jewish leaders and to the Jews, I find no fault in him." And then he puts, at all. At all. That's what John 18 and verse 38 says. I find no fault in him at all. Now, you come up.

Let your life be seen what can be said of that my life what can be said of that I don't have to tell you of my life I can tell you of today I can tell you of this morning. And the finger of God is pointing at me. I find fault with this man, but not with my son. You can find fault with anyone. You find fault daily with yourself, but not with Jesus Christ.

The thief on the cross, What did he say? What did he proclaim? He said to the other criminal, This man, this man that you're mocking, this man that has been crucified with us, he's in the midst of us, This man hath done nothing amiss. This man hath done nothing wrong. That's the testimony of those who met him.

So we see His holiness. We see His holiness in the way He hated sin. In the way while on earth He hated sin. And He still hates sin. He uncovers sin.

That's a good thing. It is a good thing for our sins to be uncovered. Because God doesn't just uncover our sin and leave us there, He uncovers us and then points us to the way, to the remedy. That's what he does. There is a way back to God, he says.

There's a way back to me, and he says I am the way. There is a door, and I am that door. There's a way, and I am it. But one day he will punish all sins and he will punish all sinners and We must tremble at the sight of that. Holy jesus He hates sin so much that living blood must be shed for sin to be Forgiven for that sin to be removed without the shedding of blood.

There is no remission of sin The scripture says and that word remission doesn't merely mean forgiveness It's mistranslated if it is in your Bibles as forgiveness remission It means removal of something when your cancer is in remission. What does that mean? It is getting less and less it is being removed And without the shedding of blood living blood there is no remission of sins and Jesus Christ Gave his heart blood upon the cross for sinners like us so that he may not only condemn sin but show us the way for forgiveness. We must move on. The second thing is this.

Christ's holiness and the temptation. He could not sin. This is so essential doctrine. Temptation, friends, has no power over a perfect person, but it does over a depraved person. The Lord Jesus Christ during his days in the flesh was holy harmless and undefiled and separate from sinners and To suggest that he had a nature subject to sin is nothing short of blasphemy on the other hand you and I are in our depravity are capable of anything anything of the most wicked of sins because each one of us each one has a mind that is ready to receive an evil suggestion.

The suggestion would come and the heart would receive. James tells us, and I'll be going back to James a number of times in James chapter 1 and verse 14 We read these words, but every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed He speaks of a man and his lust, that word for lust. It means desire, it means cravings, it means the longings. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust and enticed. A person is tempted when he is enticed by his own craving for that which is forbidden, for that which is unlawful by God.

No one who understands the biblical teaching concerning the person of the Lord Jesus Christ could entertain a thought that he could desire the unlawful things we couldn't entertain that he would desire the things that the Father would forbid That is why James says in verse 13 of chapter 1, God cannot be tempted with evil. That word tempted, the temptation, does not always carry the same meaning in every passage where it is used. It has various meanings in the original, and it's translated differently in different places. It could mean trials, It could mean proof, it could mean temptation. The noun is related to the verb here, which means to test, it means to try, it means to tempt.

Both words may be used in either a good sense or a bad sense. For example, it's used in verse one, or verse two of James chapter one and verse 12, which means trial. My brethren, he says in verse two, James one and verse two, my brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations. That means various trials. And then verse 12, it says blessed is the man that endureth Temptation it means trial for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to them that love him.

It speaks about the Christian who endures. That is an outward trial, but he should resist an inward temptation to evil. And hence, the distinction must be made between remaining steadfast under trial and being ensnared by one's own sinful heart. One is outward and the other is inward. And that's what we see again and again in the word of God.

The Lord tries Abraham, But he does not tempt Abraham to sin That is so clear in Genesis 22 and it's described in Hebrews 11 and So James tells us goes on to say in verse 13 of chapter 1 God cannot be tempted with evil neither tempteth he any man this means that God is incapable not only of being driven to sin to be tempted to sin but of driving any other person to sin, to tempt people to sin. On the other hand, God does try and test men to prove them. He tests you. It's the trial of your faith. That's what he sends to you, and he does that lovingly.

That's what he does. And so Peter tells us of this in 1st Peter chapter 1 and verse 6 and then chapter 4 and verse 12 1st Peter 1 6 we read wherein ye greatly rejoice though now for a season if need be you are in heaviness through manifold temptations these are trials that the Lord says is not temptation to sin the testing of our faith and then in verse 12 of chapter 4 we read beloved think it not strange concerning them fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange thing happened unto you. So do you see? Outward trials are from God, but inward temptations are from the evil passion of my depraved heart and your depraved heart. The inward temptations are from me and you, not from the Lord.

It is also Satan who tempts you to sin and your sinful heart wants it and goes for it and commits it. But God, friends, praise God, he overrules, doesn't he? He overrules and Makes the evil acts of men to work for our good and for his glory That's what he does again. And again, he did that with Joseph And his brothers they meant it for evil They meant to cause damage and harm and death but God meant it for good and it is interesting to observe how God uses the sinful wicked acts of men when they give into temptation and how he advances upon his own perfections. How he uses it to magnify his name.

How does he do that? How does he do that? Sin defiles. Sin produces death. Sin brings a barrier between us and God.

But what does God do? He advances his pardon. He pardons sin. His justice punishes sin. His wisdom orders sin.

His power overrules sin. The source of sin is man's depravity but God is not the author of that depravity, is not the author of sin. And those who claim that Jesus Christ had the capacity to sin are forced to admit that he became less than God in the Incarnation. What a horrifying thing to say. And such thinking is in direct opposition to scripture which says this, God cannot be tempted, which means he's inexperienced in temptation, he's incapable of being tempted.

God cannot be tempted with evil, James tells us in James 1.13. And that word evil, it means it is in possessive. It means of evils. It is in possessive plural. Of evils.

He cannot, there is nothing in him that is incapable of going towards those evil things. He cannot be possessed by evil. God can never be induced to act inconsistently with any attributes of his character. Christ is not inconsistent with himself, with his Father, with the Spirit. The human nature of the Son of God in his incarnation did not exist apart from his divine person.

And if Jesus Christ had the capacity to sin, The divine person had the capacity to sin. So that is why it is blasphemy to say that he could sin, but he chose not to. His holy human nature unites to his divine nature, eliminates any concept of being able to sin of Jesus birth the angel said to Mary in Luke 135 and the angel answered and said unto her The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing, which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God." There can never be any conflict between two absolutely holy natures. And the Bible says that Christ was made in the likeness of men.

But it never says that he possessed the sinful nature or was nothing more than a mere man, it doesn't say that. And when the scripture speaks of lust, when the scripture in James tells us of the lust and the desire, the craving, the longing by which man is tempted it is not of God, it is his own lust which is fruit of the fall evil that is in man, evil that is in you and me, it is my own, it is yours and within man's heart are evil desires they are there by nature, the devil cannot induce or introduce them All Satan does is find out where man is most vulnerable and bombards him with things that he craves. And so he finds your weak spots, which you might think are your strength. And he has many devices, and you should not be ignorant of his devices. And he uses them in all kinds of ways.

He knows it. He has had the longest experience with so many. He's caused many to fall. He has introduced a pet dog to someone, and they think this is a nice pet dog, and they begin to stroke the pet dog. And then they fall asleep while doing it.

They wake up and it is a lion on their lap. Satan does that. And it makes you think you're only petting this sin. No one else knows, no one else is affected by it, and Satan introduces that. But you are the one who takes hold of it brings it close or stroking it or petting it or feeding it or caring for it or hiding it from others and thinking that God cannot see But Satan does not make you do it you do it I do it and So there's evil suggestions Admitted into your mind will grow in strength because of the evil desires that are already resident in your in you unless it is resisted by grace unless the power of it is broken by the blood of Jesus Christ.

This is the question. Did Satan ever find a weak spot in Jesus Christ? Did he find a weakness in him? Was there a crack anywhere for him to pierce the heart of Jesus with that temptation. Since there was no weakness in Jesus Christ, he could never be tempted to do anything contrary to his holy character.

Therefore, the Lord Jesus Christ could not be tempted with evil. And so it must be understood that evil exists in man before it comes forth from him in action. It already exists there. That holy Robert Murray McShane said this, and I have it still underlined a few times in my book of his diary. The seed of every known sin is within our hearts.

And so it is when someone falls that I have revered for a long time. I am no longer surprised. It simply causes me to shudder in fear for my own soul. I could fall. I could fall.

It's only by the grace of God. Or I could fall. The seed of every known sin are within my heart, within yours, within ours. On the other hand there was no evil in Christ he could not be tempted by any suggestion or any temptation From without and to say that Christ could have sinned as to his human nature But not as to his divine nature forces us to conclude something forces to to think that there was a conflict between his two natures And this was impossible because his human nature was perfectly united to his divine person and so there was never any conflict in the Godhead and there is never conflict in the Person of Christ as there is in us there is a great conflict in us and so we cry out as we read Romans chapter 7 and we say that's me. That's me even as a child of God That's me The things that I desire and the very things I do they are so different and there's a battle and I say that's me There is that conflict but there was never that conflict in Christ And when you're tempted to sin There's some things that are happening that it is good for you to know what is happening there.

There is the attraction by the suggestion of something that is desirable. And that which is desirable is forbidden. God forbids it. And in order for you to commit it in order for you to give in to the temptation you must ignore Biblical precepts you must ignore the Word of God you must ignore the promptings of the spirit and you must somehow rationalize it and This is what you see in pastoral care of souls. You see people becoming stupid and rationalizing things that are in front of them and You see how can they not see it?

They've rationalized it so much that they cannot see anymore and so that is what happens and the more you rationalize it you justify why you may do this why you may give in and you do that because of what is already in your heart the desire The lust that is already in your heart and friends. We cannot deny that the devil as You read in in Matthew chapter 4 We cannot deny that that devil made some offers to Christ in the wilderness and we cannot deny that The eternal son was eternally aware of every detail of the offers made by the devil. But it is nothing short of blasphemy to entertain the thought that the Son of God wanted anything that was offered by the devil. He didn't want any of it. And so he said so.

Jesus' human nature is called that holy thing. The Lord Jesus Christ experienced only the suffering part of the temptation. He experienced the suffering part of the temptation whereas man, you and I, we experienced both the suffering and the sinning parts of the temptation. Christ had no desire, he had no lust for it. He did not suffer the sinning part of the temptation.

He did not commit, he could not commit sin. And so when someone understands the biblical use of temptation He will have no problem with the so-called temptation of the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew chapter 4 The Lord Jesus Christ was not tempted but he was tried to prove to mankind who he is God incarnate And So it is friends My time is gone, but I want to say some words of application. Our Lord Jesus Christ testified this. He said in John 14 and verse 30 the prince of this world cometh and Have nothing in me He has nothing in me Satan had nothing in the incarnate word because Jesus Christ knew no sin and in him is no sin therefore he did no sin. Now What about us?

Number one in application. How do you approach Christ in worship? How do you approach this holy Jesus in worship? Approach friends Christ in worship reverently. Worship must be with godly fear according to the Word of God, not adding anything to it, but what is positively given in the Word of God, because we are approaching the Holy One of Israel.

Don't be light in your attitude. Don't be distracted. Do everything you can so you can focus your mind. You are not distracted. You've already done the things you needed to do before the worship service begins, beyond time.

Some people turn the scriptures on their head when the scripture says that praise waiteth for thee in Zion, Lord. But then, for those who are late, the Lord has to wait for you, it seems. How do you approach worship of God? Don't be light. Be prepared beforehand.

Pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, by the power of his Spirit, would cover your sinful soul with the virtue of his blood and righteousness God is Greatly to be feared in the assembly of the Saints And to be had in reverence of them that are about him. That's what Psalm 89 verse 7 says, but then number two Jesus Christ is holy and so you should want to be Conformed to his Holiness and his image his father calls you to be holy like him and so you need Jesus You need his holiness. You're not called to be like Jesus in being able to do all things. You're not called to be like Jesus in understanding all things. But you're called to be holy in all manner of conversation.

It says in 1 Peter 1.15. In all manner of your behavior. You're sitting there, and you must be thinking about, I hope you are, you're thinking about the things in your life what you have what you've done well my friends we must repent and trust Christ We must be washed by his blood. We need to be sanctified daily by the word of God And by the working of the spirit in sanctification John Owen said this holiness indeed is Perfected in heaven, but the beginning of it is invariably confined to this world Maybe you realize that you are not a true Christian. You have felt it throughout the conference.

Maybe you realize that you are so guilty, you are wretched, you are miserable. You have come to realize that without holiness you are not going to see the Lord you realize that and you need the holiness and the righteousness that is outside of you remember that if you die in your sin unconverted unforgiven then you will be Experiencing what the wrath of the Lamb that's what you will experience the wrath of the Lamb the wrath of the Son of God Remember you cannot get right with God on your terms because of your goodness You cannot your identity without Christ righteousness is an unholy sinner condemned to die eternally without Christ you're without hope in this world it would be easier for you the Puritans would say to create a world than to make yourself right against the demands of a holy God. Do you understand that? Do you understand that your heart, your soul is blackness and darkness and God is pure light who is unapproachable? All you and I have in ourselves our filthy stinking rags of self and sin and positive defilement.

Oh wretched people that we are. Who shall deliver us? Who will deliver us? We are like a bad and corrupt tree and the fruits of our lives is bad in every way and shameful If God was to receive us without Christ now, he would have to deny himself He would have to ungod himself if he was to deny you. But oh friends, but praise his holy name, praise the Holy Father, praise the Holy Son, praise the Holy Spirit, the eternal three in one.

He has made a way, he has found a way, He has made a holy way for us. Jesus went that way alone. It is sprinkled by his blood. He was butchered. He was sacrificed.

He was crucified. His soul suffered under the intense and infinite wrath of God, a holy God. He was punished for us by the Father. He represented a sinful people. And so God focused all of his wrath on his holy and undefiled son instead of us, as if he was the guilty one.

And he paid all of our debt. He extinguished God's wrath. He is the propitiation for our sin, the scripture says. All of our guilt and all of it was laid upon that holy Jesus and This is our comfort. Is it not?

This is our comfort as you as you sit there and maybe you have sinned You have you feel guilty in your soul that you have given into temptation and you go to Christ today and think of those words for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin you've given into sin you've given into what tempted you You're already maybe living in some form of hypocrisy. You may be covering your sin, But if God has spoken to you today, do not delay. What you should do this morning, run, run, run in full trust. And you run in faith, looking unto Jesus, and while you run you repent and turn away, confess your sins to him. And he has fiery eyes that he penetrates through the thick walls that you have Surrounded yourself and your sin with and he will save you doubt no more Oh praise his whole this holy Savior the holy Jesus the holy eternal son Listen in closing to these words of the hymn by Count Zinzendorf Jesus thy blood and righteousness My beauty are my glorious dress midst flaming worlds in these arrayed With joy shall I lift up my head, Bold shall I stand in that great day, For who ought to my charge shall lay, Fully absolved through these I am, From sin and fear, from guilt and shame, The deadly writing now I see, nailed with thy body to the tree torn with the nails that pierced thy hands the old covenant no longer stands Those signed and written with my blood.

As hell's foundations, sure it stood. Thine hath washed out the crimson stains, and white as snow my soul remains Satan thy Jew reward survey the Lord of life why didst thou slay to tear the prey out of thy teeth To spoil the realms of hell and death, Jesus, be endless praise to thee, whose boundless mercy hath for me a full atonement made, an everlasting ransom paid, when from the dust of death I rise. To claim my mansion in disguise, even then this shall be all my plea. Jesus hath lived, hath died for me. Oh, let the dead now hear thy voice.

Now bid thy ransom bonds rejoice. Their beauty this, their glorious dress. Jesus, thy blood and righteousness. Amen. Lord, write thy word upon our hearts that we may not sin against thee amen

When we think of Christ, we need to realize that He is God, manifested in the flesh. God is seen in Christ. This realization ought to produce godly fear, reverence, and a larger realization of our own unholiness. Peter could not comprehend the power of Jesus. No man spoke like Him. He saw the majesty of Christ and his own unholiness. Luke 5:8 (NKJV) - “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, 'Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!'" His life and works oozed of holiness. Even Pilate found no fault in Christ and the thief on the cross realized that Christ had done nothing wrong. If this is who Christ is then our response to his holiness must be seen in our worship and our own pursuit of holiness.
