Carlton McLeod

Dr. Carlton McLeod is the pastor at Calvary Reformation Church. Dr. McLeod earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science from Hampton University and a Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry from Andersonville Theological Seminary. He and his wife Donna have been married since 1992 and they have two daughters, Dori and Aryanna, and one son, Jonathan. Dr. McLeod is relentless in his pursuit to compassionately teach with a biblical worldview. After spending his early years in ministry attempting to pull young people out of the kingdom of darkness with all the world’s methods, the Lord led Dr. McLeod back to the Bible to see the critical need for constant, fervent, and Spirit-led biblical family discipleship. The D6Reformation.org was created out of this desire. His other passions in ministry include discipleship, debt-free living, the covenant of marriage, the supremacy of Scripture, servant leadership with accountability, integrity, and obedience to God, family integration, biblical manhood/biblical womanhood, and missions.

Mangled Manhood and Womanhood
Oct. 26, 2023
In this sermon titled 'Mangled Manhood and Womanhood,' Carlton McLeod explores the current state of manhood and womanhood and the need for healing in this area. He emphasizes the importance of turning to the word of God for guidance and obedience in order to experience healing. McLeod discusses various reasons why manhood and womanhood are often mangled, including demonic attacks, embracing worldly interpretations of Scripture, fear of offending others, fear of being associated with extreme movements, fear of conflict, and fear of loss. He highlights the commands given to men and women in the Bible, such as leadership and provision for men, and submission and modesty for women. McLeod emphasizes the significance of following these commands in order to live in alignment with God's design and experience healing. He underscores the need for both men and women to study and obey the word of God in order to restore manhood and womanhood to its biblical foundations.

To Live is Christ, to Die is Gain
Oct. 26, 2018
What does it truly mean to both live and suffer and die for Jesus? Every believer is called to carry their cross and die to self. Often we can look at this demand as an unpleasant and miserable yet, when we have the right perspective, such living destroys fear and promotes faith, love, peace, and joy. Drawing from the example of Paul’s joyful, eternal perspective we can learn much that should promote Christian joy during times of difficulty, loss, or persecution.

What Are the Fruits of Repentance?
Sep. 6, 2018
Carlton McLeod explains in this video what the fruits of repentance look like. A repentant heart will exhibit contriteness and penitence along with the fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, and kindness. Such a heart will love the things of God and hate the things that He hates. James 5:16 (NKJV) - "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

Characteristics of False Repentance
Jan. 26, 2018
What are characteristics of false repentance? Carlton McCleod explains in this video that it is often difficult to determine whether where a person is demonstrating true or false repentance from one encounter. False repentance springs up quickly and is accompanied by emotion but there is no life to it beyond the moment. Simply because an individual is emotional and there are tears doesn’t necessarily mean that he is truly repentant. False repentance springs up quickly and is very quickly taken away by worldly concerns. We must walk with people for awhile to fully ascertain whether they are truly repentant. It is easy for someone to apologize for something but later do the same thing later that day.  1 John 3:9 (NKJV) - "Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God."

Guarding Against the Dangers of Social Media
Nov. 8, 2019
What should parents be aware of before letting their children access social media? Dr. Carlton McLeod explains in this video that social media can be extremely dangerous and harmful, particularly for younger children. It can be so easy for one of our children to see something that they can never unsee. Parents must make an informed decision of what they allow their children to access. While social media is not evil in and of itself, we shouldn't necessarily be careless and just hastily let our children access it with no limits. Each parent will have to ultimately decide what to do for their own family. Colossians 2:8 (NKJV) - "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ."

Explaining God's Glory to Eight-Year-Olds
Mar. 29, 2023
How can we explain the glory of God to our young children? Dr. Carlton McLeod explains in this video that when he begins to explain the concept of the glory of God to his own young children that he finds it helpful to  explain what God has done so that they are in awe of God.  God made everything for His own glory. He sent His only Son to die for you so you could enjoy Him forever. He is a loving and powerful God.  Romans 11:36 (NKJV) - "For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen."

Resolving Conflict in Marriage
Aug. 1, 2019
How can conflict between spouses be resolved? Carlton McLeod explains in this video that he has had several opportunities to talk with and provide counsel to young couples. Initially, he would always start his conversations with the issues that they're struggling with. Now, he has learned to tell the couples to evaluate their relationship before the Lord before discussing specific issues. This helps to have both husband and wife in the right state of mind. Are both spouses praying for each other? Sometimes, there is a key sin underlying many of these issues. Once we get the couple in a right place before God, then we can simply point them to what God says in His Word. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) - "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

The Secret to a Sweet Marriage
Sep. 25, 2020
Carlton McLeod explains in this video that one of the best things that you can do to make your marriage sweet is to pray and serve the Lord together. In fact, everything can and should be oriented towards God. There should be nothing more important and more fulfilling than serving the Lord together. Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV) - "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

Preparing Daughters
Dec. 16, 2020
Dr. Carlton McLeod explains in this video that while they are in the home, daughters should seek how to add value to their households. The normative pattern is for daughters to marry and have children. Accordingly, parents should train their daughters to prepare for womanhood. Proverbs 31:10-11 (NKJV) - "Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain."

A Conversation with Carlton McLeod (Stories of Twenty Years of Church and Family Reformation)
Nov. 1, 2024
When you take on entrenched cultural norms with the truth of God’s Word, you can expect resistance.   That’s what pastors Carlton McLeod and Scott Brown experienced as they forsook worldly approaches to church ministry and returned to the plain teaching of Scripture.  But here’s the good news!   While the early years were hard, over time they saw rest, peace, and joy come to their churches and families, as they persevered in following God’s ways.   Be encouraged by the reflections of both men in this video conversation!     Scott and Carlton were youth pastors who spent years advancing a worldly model of ministry and outreach — only to realize they had erred as they dug into their Bibles.   In this conversation, they reflect on their journey.   Both men saw a clear pattern in Scripture that families were to worship together, with their children, in the meeting of the church, and that dads were to take initiative in teaching their families God’s Word in the home.   As they taught their congregations these truths, they were met with slanders from without, and criticisms from within.   Yet as they discipled the men in their churches to diligently shepherd their families in the Lord, peace and joy followed.   This came as the women saw their husbands sacrificing themselves for their wives and children.   It occurred as the families — down to the smallest children — witnessed the beauty of God’s Word played out at church and home.
