Singing Hymns as a Family
Dec. 16, 2019
What is the benefit of memorizing Scripture and hymns? Pooyan Mershahi explains in this video that if families could learn and memorize hymns, it would be a wonderful thing. They could praise God no matter where they are. No matter where we are, we can praise God. Children can be involved. Children who cannot even read are able to sing God's praises because they have learned various hymns in the home. Ultimately, when we help our children to memorize Scripture and hymns, entire families can glorify God. Colossians 3:16 (NKJV) - "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

Your Family and the Internet
Dec. 13, 2019
What are some things parents must consider in regards to letting their children access the Internet? Carlton McLeod explains in this video that children need accountability when they use the Internet. In fact, everyone needs accountability. There are certainly significant risks to allowing your family to access the Internet and parents must use caution and discernment in this area. It should not be something that parents casually do. While the Internet certainly has many benefits, there are also many dangers associated with it. James 4:17 (NKJV) - "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."

Guarding Our Use of the Internet
Dec. 12, 2019
What are some things to keep in mind in regards to your family accessing the internet? Gary Powers explains in this video that lives can be destroyed by pornography. Churches are sometimes weakened in their efforts to speak out against the dangers of it because they are so guilty. If this is a stumbling block to you, you need to pluck out right eye and take drastic measures. You can't take this lightly. If you don't deal with these issues of the heart, you will never experience victory. Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV) - "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."

What Does Your Marriage Picture?
Dec. 11, 2019
What can we learn from Christ and the Church? Jason Dohm explains in this video that marriage is a picture of the sacrificial love of Christ for the unsaved and how He laid down His life for us. The husband is called to be like Christ. Husbands have to be aware and humble that they are sinful and will sin against their wives. They are not infallible and must be quick to apologize and repent. Accordingly, so much grace is needed within a marriage. A husband and a father can do much harm to his family and to his children if he acts in an ungodly, prideful manner in his marriage. Ephesians 5:25-27 (NKJV) - "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish."

Responding to the Social Justice Movement
Dec. 10, 2019
How should we define what justice is? Calvin Beisner explains in this video that to get a proper understanding of justice, we must look to Scripture. An appropriate definition is rendering impartially and proportionally to everyone his due in accord with the righteous standard of God's moral law. We learn this from the moral law of God revealed in the 10 Commandments. The world's standard of justice is in reality, injustice. Proverbs 21:15 (NKJV) - "It is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity."

Common Problems in the Millennial Generation
Dec. 9, 2019
What are some common characteristics of the current generation? Anthony Mathenia explains in this video that some of the characteristics that he has seen in this current generation is that children and teens often have low attention spans and demonstrate a poor work ethic. There also is a problem with the youth of the current generation denying that there is absolute truth amongst this generation. The world is constantly telling them that there is no absolute truth because there is no God. If we want to help this current generation, we need to return to Scripture and teach them what God requires. The only way to overcome unbelief and sin is through the Gospel of Christ. Ephesians 6:4 (NKJV) - "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

Seeking God as a Family
Dec. 6, 2019
What is something that parents need to pursue? Kevin Swanson explains in this video that if parents sense that there is a lack of the presence of the Holy Spirit, they must plead for God to change the hearts of their children. Many parents fail to love God with their whole heart, mind, and soul. If they did, there would be much more sharing of Scripture with their children. Parents should not think that there is no need to reformation. We must repeatedly turn to God and cry out to God for His mercy on our family. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) - "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

The Authority of Churches and Families
Dec. 5, 2019
What is the proper balance of authority between the Church and the family? Dr. Joel Beeke explains in this video that all too often a father is too eager or willing to jump ship because he forgets that he is under the authority of the church. The father and his family are to remain under the authority of the Church unless the elders of the Church preach heresy. Similarly, the Church needs to respect the father's boundaries and his sphere of sovereignty. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) - "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Keeping Short Accounts in the Home
Dec. 4, 2019
What is something that will contribute to greater harmony within the home? Sam Waldron explains in this video that it is important to keep short accounts within the home and practice love and forgiveness towards those that wrong us. We are to forgive a spouse or sibling as Christ forgave us. Luke 17:4 (NKJV) says, "And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him." John 13:34 (NKJV) - "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

The Centrality of the Bible to Family Life
Dec. 3, 2019
How is the Gospel and the Word of God central to our lives? Mike Davenport explains in this video that the Gospel and the Word of God impacts all areas of the life of a believer. The Gospel is central to fathers, mothers, and spouses and will apply in all areas of life. Scripture and the Gospel is central not only to us as individuals but also families. Accordingly, we must allow God's Word to direct every area of our life. Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) - "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

A Multigenerational Vision
Dec. 2, 2019
How can we as parents help to facilitate generational faithfulness to God? Kirk Smith explains in this video that generations will perish if there is no vision. He tells his children that he hopes and prays that each generation of his family will continue to grow in godliness and build on the previous generation. To facilitate generational faithfulness, parents must point our children back to Christ. Only He can radically change a generation from sin to following God and empower them to continue serving Him throughout generations. Psalm 78:5-7 (NKJV) - "For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments."
