Teaching Our Children to Love the Local Church
Aug. 16, 2019
How can we help our children to love the church? Gary Powers explains in this video that the church can't exist without strong families and a strong family cannot exist without a strong church Accordingly, we need to teach our children to ask themselves how they can serve the church instead of asking how the church can benefit them. The Bible states that it is more blessed to give than to receive. We need to model that for them. Acts 20:35 (NKJV) - "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’"

Preparing Children for Marriage
Nov. 27, 2019
How can parents help to prepare their children for marriage? The best way to prepare children for marriage is to model a biblical marriage for them. We need to ask ourselves what example are we setting for our children? Do our children see us laying our lives down for our spouse? Ultimately, our children will be affected by our actions. We will fail at being a good parent. But that shouldn't stop us from trying. We should pray and ask God to help us to be a good spouse and parent to our children. Our children will learn much by observing our own lives. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 (NKJV) - "But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

Is Socialism Biblical?
Oct. 25, 2019
While the Bible is not intended to be a book on economic theory, there are many principles and concepts, and even direct laws, which should be used to inform how Christians understand economics. Today the economic debate often primarily focuses on differences between capitalism and socialism. The theories of Marx are seeing a comeback in our day, but what does the Bible teach us about this theory? While the Bible never uses the terms capitalism or socialism, concepts like the private ownership of property, laws against stealing, and warnings against coercive taxation build a biblical case against socialism.

Business in Babylon 2025
May. 5, 2025
In the sermon 'Business in Babylon 2025,' the speakers discuss the challenges and strategies for navigating the current economic climate, marked by inflation, housing price surges, and market instability. They emphasize the importance of character, perseverance, and adding value through excellence in work. The speakers advocate for young people to think differently, work hard, and seize opportunities, often through starting small and building up. They highlight mentorship, networking, and relationships as critical components for success. The speakers also address the necessity of returning manufacturing jobs to local communities and the value of aligning business endeavors with biblical principles, such as the dominion mandate and the Great Commission. The sermon underscores the role of humility, faith in God's providence, and a focus on service to others as integral to both personal and business growth.

Interacting With Unbelieving Relatives
Oct. 22, 2019
How do you interact with unbelieving relatives? Gary Powers explains in this video that he has unbelieving relatives and that he strives to love and care for them and to ultimately point them to Christ. He tries to present the Gospel at different opportunities because he desires that they be saved. In short, believers ought to show great care for the souls of their unbelieving relatives. Likewise, we should want our children to have compassion and mercy towards those relatives. We shouldn't want them to have an attitude of arrogance and judgment towards them. If we model that kind of attitude, our children will surely mirror that was well. Colossians 4:5-6 (NKJV) - "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."

Advice for the Discouraged Mother
Aug. 26, 2020
Gary Powers explains in this video that if a mother is discouraged, it is important for her to keep her eyes on Christ. Depend on Him and you will find strength and encouragement. That is the same for any person. When we are feeling discouraged with life, we can trust in the fact that He is all sufficient. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) - "And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

A Story of Repentance
May. 24, 2018
What is an example of repentance and conversion? Gary Powers shares in this video how God drew him to Himself. He was born in a Catholic family. In his senior year of college, he went to a small church. After the sermon, he fell on his face. The pastor was in the back and was praying for him.  He left the church knowing that his sins were forgiven and God has never allowed him to look back.  Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Cautions Regarding Social Media
Nov. 7, 2019
What should parents be cautious of in regards to social media? Gary Powers explains in this video that he personally doesn't use any social media. For our children, it is shaping their worldview much more than they believe. He wants their worldview shaped by Scripture. He shares that he enjoys reading books written by individuals who lived years before. In regards to social influencers, we barely know many of these people and yet, we're allowing them to shape our opinions, values, and worldview. It can be very dangerous or a waste of time if we are not careful. We must see how we are spending our time. There are other things that we can be doing like mentoring others, building relationships, or discipling individuals. Romans 12:2 (NKJV) - "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Increasing Joy in Worship through Giving
Oct. 31, 2013
If you will just stand. Let's pray and I'd like to read some Scripture. If you have a Bible. If you would turn to Second Corinthians chapter 9. I'm going to actually begin in the prior chapter the last verse, Second Corinthians Chapter 8 verse 24.  "Or foreshow ye to them, And before the churches the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf. For as touching them ministering to the Saints It is superfluous for me to write to you for I know the forwardness of your mind for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia that Achaia was ready a year ago and your zeal has provoked very many yet have I sent the Brethren lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this be half that as I said you may be ready, less happily if they of Macedonia come with me and find you unprepared, we that we say not ye, should be ashamed in this same confident boasting. Therefore, I thought it necessary to exhort the Brethren that they would go before you unto you and make-up beforehand your bounty whereof you had noticed before that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty and not of covetousness.  But this I say 'he which soweth sparingly show reap also sparingly and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.' Every man according as he purposes in his heart so let him give, not grudgingly or of necessity for God loveth a cheerful giver, and God is able to make all grace abound toward you that ye always having all sufficiency and all things may abound to every good work as it is written. 'He hath dispersed abroad, He hath given to the poor, His righteousness remaineth forever'. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food and multiply your seeds sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness being enriched in everything to all bountifulness which causes through us thanksgiving to God for the administration of the service not only supplieth the want of the Saints but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God, while by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection under the gospel of Christ and for your liberal distribution unto them and unto all men and by prayer for you which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift".  Would you pray with me? "Father would you open this text to us this morning. I pray that you would come, that you would send your Holy

Older Daughters in Your Home
Oct. 5, 2020
Gary Powers explains that your daughters should continue to be busy even while they remain in the home. They should continue to grow their minds. They ought to be well educated and continue to serve the local church and their home. He shares how he and his wife have brought their daughters into their family business. Psalms 144:12 (NKJV) - "That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style."

How Important Is Family Worship?
Jul. 29, 2019
What is the importance of family worship? Gary Powers explains in this video that family worship must be one of the greatest priorities of fathers in the home. It needs to be done on a regular basis. It would be a good idea to do it twice a day, morning and evening. It is important to demonstrate the value of Scripture for our children. By the reading and studying of Scripture, we point them to Christ. Psalm 143:8 (NKJV) - "Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You."
