What is Demonic Faith?
Feb. 4, 2022
James 2:19 "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!" Even the demons believe. Then what is Biblical, saving faith? James is not primarily pointing out that the content of demonic faith is fundamentally different than the content of saving faith. The demons believe in God and tremble. They know Him in His judgment. The difference is not that one impacts you and one does not. The primary difference is that the demons do not view the eternal triune God through the beauty of the Redeemer. Redemption is not for them. They view God and they hate Him. They do not long for and desire peace with God. Saving faith views God through the redemptive labors of Jesus Christ. This love crashes through every wall between us and our Creator.

Do You Find Church Boring?
Nov. 27, 2020
Paul White explains in this video that families need to focus their attention on Christ and see Him as a great treasure in all of life. If they do this, there will be fewer distractions and a greater desire to learn more about the things of God. Time spent studying God's Word, fellowshipping with fellow believers, and in prayer is certainly not wasted time. Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV) - "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

How to Thrive Where God Has Planted You
Apr. 8, 2020
Are you content with where God has you as a pastor or even as a father? Are you seeking to thrive exactly where God has placed you? Glorifying God has nothing to do with becoming famous or wealthy. In fact, Hensworth Jonas explains that God has called many of us to live humble lives.  For those who are pastors, they need to nurture the sheep that He has put under their charge. Each one of the sheep are to be nurtured, developed, and discipled according to the Word of God. The wealth or prestige of those in the congregation is inconsequential in the eyes of God and we should view it the same way as well. Are you seeking to thrive where God has planted you or are you continuously envious of other congregations? Don’t be focused on making a name for yourself. Be content with the church that God has blessed you with as a pastor. Even if the church is small, the importance of the task that God has called you to does not become less important.  The same idea also applies to fathers. Regardless of the size of their family, they are to faithfully bring the Word of God to their family. They shouldn’t do this so other families admire them. Instead, they should pray with their family and read Scripture as a family because God commands it.  Philippians 4:11-13 (NKJV) - “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

The Key to Effectively Communicating Scriptural Truths
Apr. 8, 2020
How can pastors or fathers communicate Scriptural truths more effectively to their congregations or families? In this video, Hensworth Jonas explains that it is vitally important that pastors are being fed by the Word. It can be easy to focus on bringing the Word only to their congregation but neglect considering how they themselves might be impacted by Scripture.  Hansworth suggests that preachers need to stay with the text until there is a fire inside of him and a burden to share a message from Scripture with the congregation. You aren't ready to preach if the text hasn't impacted you. When it has, there is an authenticity to your preaching and a passion. It builds credibility.  Scott shares that for him, it is helpful to consider whether he is bringing a sermon or a message to his congregation. It is straightforward to craft and communicate a sermon. It is something else to preach a message that is burning in your soul.  Preachers need time to search for deep insights within the text and take time to really immerse himself in Scripture. It isn’t something that should be taken lightly.   The same idea can also apply to fathers within the home. If fathers are not taking the time to read the Word and spend time in prayer themselves, they will not be equipped to invest and nurture their own children. Are you being intentional about reading and meditating on Scripture?  Exodus 4:10-12 (NKJV) - "Th

Our Pre-Born Neighbors
Oct. 26, 2019
As our culture has embraced the culture of death, how should Christians respond? With such a tragic reality, is it enough to simply pray, or is there more Christians ought to be doing? What is the role of the Church in responding to the killing of babies in abortion mills?

The Complementary Roles of Church and Family
Sep. 11, 2019
How can there be greater harmony between families of a church and its leaders? Jason Dohm explains in this video that families of a church ought to work to be gracious with the leaders of that church. It is possible for leaders to overstep their boundaries, but with that said, a family should work to be a blessing to those in leadership positions. In the same way, church leaders ought to be gracious and patient with the families in their church and aware of the challenges that families face. They ought to be a blessing to each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NKJV) - "And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves."

Teaching Your Children the Importance of the Local Church
Aug. 27, 2019
How does your view of the church affect your children? Sam Waldron explains in this video that parents must remember that they are teaching their children all the time. Parents need to ask what they are teaching their children when they skip going to church. Scripture teaches us that attending church is one of the highest priorities in the Christian life. It is important for children to be taught early by the example of their parents that being committed to a local church is a high priority and that it will continue to be so long as they live in their parents' home. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) - "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."

Is There Any Hope?
Aug. 26, 2019
What do we do when we feel like there is no hope for the next generation? Anthony Mathenia explains in this video that when we read the latest headlines, it can be easy to feel hopeless with regard to the next generation. Yet, there can be immense hope for the next generation. We know that the Gospel can save even the worst of sinners. We know that the Gospel can change the hearts of people. There is every reason to hope. Christ and His blood is sufficient to forgive all sin. God can restore the years that the locusts have eaten. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) - "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Our Most Important Work
Jun. 18, 2019
In the sermon 'Our Most Important Work,' Hensworth Jonas emphasizes the importance of preaching as the primary duty of preachers. He discusses the heart of expository preaching, which focuses on bringing out the real and essential meaning of the biblical text, as it existed in the mind of the author and in the context of scripture. Jonas highlights the necessity of expository preaching, discussing aspects such as the question of authority, the Bible as the source of preaching, the Bible as the criterion of preaching, and expository preaching and the Bible. Furthermore, he explains the advantages of expository preaching, including setting limits, demanding integrity, identifying pitfalls, and giving confidence to preach. Lastly, he addresses the issue of relying on the Holy Spirit rather than rhetorical skills in preaching, as seen in 1 Corinthians 2.

Cherishing The Word
Jun. 18, 2019
As Christians we believe God has spoken; he has spoken in creation bringing the world into existence, he has spoken through his prophets, and he has spoken in his Son. And God is still speaking in his written word. This written word, inspired by the Spirit of God and given to God's people, is the most important tool given to help us fight sin and pursue conformity to Christ. It is our guide, a lamp to our feet, and is worthy of our time and effort to know it and study it. Do you cherish God's word?

Keeping Back Nothing
Apr. 16, 2019
The work of an elder is to equip and nurture the sheep of Christ's flock. Under-shepherds are to care for and do everything in their power to support the sheep. In this work, there can be no reservations or pulled punches, particularly in the work of preaching the Word of God. A good elder keeps nothing back that would promote the health and safety of the flock over which he has been given charge.
